Advanced Open Water – Want To Go Further?
Want to open up new possibilities in your diving life? The Advanced Open Water Course consists of five (5) Adventure Dives with no class time!. Simply, one weekend of diving and you can call yourself an Advanced Diver.
The types of dives for this class are:
- Underwater Navigation
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
We typically offer this course one weekend of every month, but please call if interested in another weekend.
The price of the course is $460. The price includes course materials, boat ticket (food/drinks on the boat), instruction, certification card, and rental gear w/air fills. It does not include any personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, booties or gloves), or the gear you'll need to be an Advanced Diver, nor the tip for the boat crew. Advanced Dive gear includes: Primary Underwater Light, Back-up Light, Tank Light, Surface Marker Buoy, Reel, Slate, Compass, and Knife. As always, whenever you are a student at Deep Blue, you get 10% off all in-store equipment purchases!
We also offer Beach Only Dives for $260 if enough divers sign up (3 people min to run class).
Emergency First Responder (EFR)
CPR and First Aid are good skills for everyone who partakes in an adventure sport – just in case. Plus, these certs are needed to go on to become a Rescue Diver! We teach this course with a few optional skill sets – both Care for Children and AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Certifications are good for two years, at which time you’ll need to refresh your skills.
The class typically takes place once every month, in the evenings from 6:30pm to 10:30pm.
The price of the course is $140. This price covers all materials, course books, instruction, and certifications.
Rescue – Possibly The Most Challenging, But Most Rewarding Course
This course builds upon everything you’ve already learned and trains you to help prevent and manage any problems that may arise throughout your diving career. Rescue is one of the more demanding courses you can take – and also one of the most rewarding!
Prior to the class and pool work, you need to complete the PADI online eLearning course.
We usually teach Emergency First Responder* (EFR) on a Thursday and Friday evening at the shop; due to the time and demanding nature of the course, we give you a day off and do not start the Rescue coursework in the pool or at the beach until Sunday.
On the following Sunday we start the Rescue Course.
Sunday’s Rescue Course starts with 4-5 hours in our indoor heated pool, then we take a quick dinner break. Afterwards we head to a local beach to work on entries and exits for about an hour. The following Saturday or Sunday we take a boat out to Catalina where we continue to run Rescue Drills. Time permitting, we may even get a fun dive or two in!
*You must have current First Aid & CPR Training to take the Rescue Course (Emergency First Responder course covers this).
The price of the course is $510. This covers the online eLearning homework, course materials, rental gear w/air fills, boat ticket (food/drinks on the boat), pool time, beach time, certification card, and instruction. Tip for the boat crew is not included.
